Hurt.

Hurt. It is a weird word. Because when someone hurts you there is no other word to exactly explain how you feel. You are simply hurt. This can be in a number of ways, there is physical hurt, which as a child could be cured simply by a band-aid or a kiss from mom. Emotional Hurt, is generally more painful, because it doesn't end. People capable of hurting you generally are people you care deeply about. They can usually hurt you because you desire their happiness or approval. Deep emotional hurt, while it appears the same as emotional hurt, it is different...because it never fully goes away. When someone hurts you deeply you can't fully ever let it go. That stays with you long after the event is over. Those are the events that shape us into who we are. The words "I'm sorry I hurt you." Whether they are said with compassion, guilt, regret, or they are empty they don't always fully help the situation. I cannot explain the hurt that I am currently experiencin...

In You, Lord, may I find contentment

Image
So let's get real, I have been struggling lately  my whole life to be content. Content in my bank account, content in my job, content in relationships, content in my relationship status, content with my "stuff". Lately some of these have been ringing more true than ever. On my puny run today God really spoke to me about my heart to pursue Him. Honestly, I have not spent much, if any time pursuing Christ lately. I have been distracted by the things that I am not content with. The things that I am telling Him I want to change are the things keeping me from worshipping my savior because I am too focused on the things He "isn't changing". So on my run I immediately switched my spotify playlist to a praise and worship playlist from my "training day" playlist. On my drive to run errands I was still listening to this playlist when God spoke over the lyrics and said,   "Be Content."  Y'all, that hit me hard. Almost in tears I called my...

You're Like Coming Home

It has been so VERY long since I have written. Not just on my blog but anywhere. I have MANY things to catch up on here. Where to begin... I guess I could start from where I left off, and that was going to be "God rescued me from Vegas". However, I think reflecting on all that God taught me IN Vegas, all the opportunities he gave me to be the light in the darkness while I lived there. Then we will get into how I was brought home and all of the excitement that I have had in the last two years. Vegas, guys it was truly one of the hardest, but sweetest things I have ever experienced. I got there excited but scared because I had no idea what to expect. A Christian, southern girl from Arkansas moving to "sin city" to start her career as a CCLS at a Level I Trauma Center. I felt about two inches tall. But through all of the patients God taught me trust. My sweet Savior reminded me every day that I am His. My sole purpose in Las Vegas was to shine His light. In a city so...

Different life

Here I am in Vegas. Things are so different here. I'm so grateful to have a career but at the same time I'm so far from everyone I love. That makes things so difficult. I'm trying so hard to meet people and build a community here in Vegas. But it is hard when the life I have been called to live looks so different from the lives of so many here. I'm looking for relationships that will point me to the throne of God. That is something I have taken for granted for the last 25 years. Everyone I have been close  friends with loved Jesus too and that is what brought us close. It is hard to build close relationships with people who don't share the love of God that is so important to me. But now I go to sleep. Work comes early in the morning.  Love you all.  Linds

What happened? You Good?

It has been months since I last blogged and SO much has happened. Lets just dive in and see what happens… So hop on the plane and hold on tight because there is a lot to discuss. Im going to start on kind of a weird note because that way I figure ill end on a happy note rather than a bitter one. So an ex of mine recently entered into a new relationship. I never talk to him and don't follow him on any social media so how did I find out? I wandered over to his IG and he has done nothing lately other than post pictures of her with #WCW...so why do I care? I know he is the kind of guy who could be eternally single and be happy, and that is a big part of why he and I would have never worked out. So why do I care? Do I still want him? No. I don't. But I realized today that while I don't want my exes to want me, I don't want them to be in relationships/get engaged before I do. I am perfectly content living single and over the summer I had gotten to a place where I was ha...

Hurricane.

I honestly have so many thoughts rushing through my mind like the winds in a tropical storm that at this point that i have no idea how to begin this blog..no catchy hook to make you want to read more. Nothing that i learned about writing in high school journalism fits how I want to convey my heart right now. But in all honestly this blog isn't for the readers...and it isn't even for me anymore at this point....at least i don't want it to be for me. and I have realized quite abruptly, that no matter how hard i have "tried" to not let things or careers become an idol for me and how hard i have tried to remind myself that "maybe God has not yet given me a Job that i love because at this point i would create an idol (and that may be true) however, i missed the bigger part...the biggest Idol that i have created and i can't just run away from it. My biggest idol is me. I have created in myself an idol. I have put the most importance in what I want. and i ...

Gone.

Well, it is gone. The last job that i applied for in pensacola a week ago today has been removed from indeed. I can't look at it or see it anymore, last night the website where all of my info is started glitching and now i can't even look to see if they have "candidate not selected" by my name. I may never know when that Job was filled or if they actually were anywhere close to calling me but i just want to continue to trust God with this Job....yeah the one that may already be filled. God has asked that i trust him by not trying to look at the Job posting, and I'm completely fine with that....because once i see that they did actually pick someone else my hope will be completely gone. I want to do this the right way, i don't want this career to become an idol, or something i can't stop thinking about moment by moment. being sick the last few days really was a good thing, as i spent a lot less time worrying and a lot more time resting and reading. God may...
