Smiles Joy and Babies

How powerful is a smile, something so simple that gives so much. How weird is it that in our culture something as simple as showing someone your teeth can give them such a good feeling. Something that animals see as a threat we see as something that lowers barriers, reduces threat, and can totally change your perspective of a person. A smile can take even the worst of enemies and completely change their feelings about one another, a sarcastic smile can do quite the opposite. a smile that is misread can take friends, and make them into enemies. This crossed my mind earlier when i was getting my nails done. The son of the man doing my nails was standing next to me staring into the mirror, and me being me, I was watching him in the mirror, i saw him shift his glance to me and he continued to look at me, i looked to my left at him and smiled, he grinned the biggest grin i have ever seen and giggled and ran to his mom, hugged her and continued to smile. a smile shared creates a bond, jo...

Lather, Rinse, Repeat

Sitting here looking at my journal, on one side scribbles of verses that really stood out to me today and on the other side a ripped sheet of paper detailing my "To Do" List for the day. How sad is it that I couldnt even spend 2 hours with Jesus before my mind got so wrapped up with what i "need to do" today. As hungry as i am for Him my mind is so consumed with the things that are necessary by the worlds standards, granted the things on the list are very important: Amber Bank Budget Haircut Homework But these things (as much as i Love Amber) are not more important than my relationship with the Lord. I was distracted by making sure I go to the bank so i can know how much money i have after i write a check for my tithe that my mind went out of the Word and into distraction mode.  The other side of that same journal is covered in verse after verse of what God was trying to say to me today.  I have written and underlined "The Love of Christ Controls Us" I...

Ice Picks and Snow Flakes

I was sitting around trying to come up with what I would say today, so as I sit here watching the Grammy's and listening to some amazing voices I am still trying to decide on a specific topic. So many thoughts going through my mind and this is just one way for me to organize them all. Today was difficult, I didn't feel like going to church this morning because I felt so sick, but I was also incredibly hungry for the Word and knew I needed it, so I got myself up and ready and went. Boy was I glad I did. Gregg's message on marriage was incredible! He talked about how if our focus isn't God then our relationship with a spouse cannot be right. God HAS to come first or it wont be possible for us to put our spouse ahead of ourselves. This all reminded me of what I have been reading in Undressed this week. MY focus needs to shift from "okay God where's my husband," to "okay God, I trust that you know what is best, YOU are all I need." That is the only...

Where's The Map?

I really struggled this morning to stay focused when reading the next few chapters in Corinthians. I started where I left off yesterday with 1 Corinthians 16 and then went on to 2 Corinthians 1-3...But something about it wasn't right. I wasn't seeing the same things that I have been seeing in each chapter like I have been recently. So it got me thinking, what is distracting me. Well, that could be a number of things, It could be the deep longing that I have to know what God has planned for me this year, it could be that I am not working with kids as much as I want to be. (Although the kids and babies that come through the office for adjustments or with their moms really make my day.) It could be the ridiculousness that is this online class that I forget about and then remember that I don't have a diploma yet, just an empty diploma case. Or it could simply be that I want to be a wife more than I want to be patient and wait for God to blow my mind with all of those things. Th...

To Share or Not to Share, That is the Question..

I am not sure what I want this blog to be. The musings of a young heart calling out to her Savior, or a rant about the latest Bachelor gossip. All I really know is that I want to blog. I have a lot of thoughts and some of them are too personal or too strange ( in my eyes) to be conversations used over a dinner. I miss writing, I was on the newspaper staff in high school and when we were given the opportunity to write a column we all jumped at the chance. So just like that, with the inputting of a password and finally coming up with an interesting yet witty address here I am, posting my first...well post on my first blog (post-Xanga) we were far ahead of the times with that now weren't we? Although I think that all of our posts then were what boy we liked and who our best friends were. This blog on the other hand wont be as much about who my current best friend is, and more about what the Lord is doing in my life. I have recently been reading a lot more than I used to. Both script...
